"Edge case"

"Edge case" means an unusual or extreme situation that falls outside normal conditions and often exposes unexpected problems in a system or process.

Say this instead: rare case

How "Edge case" shows up at work

Engineers use this accurately; everyone else uses it to dismiss a valid concern by labeling it rare. If a customer runs into it, it is not an edge case to them. The phrase is most dangerous when used in product prioritization meetings.
