How the translator works

It runs on the same 638-phrase library as the Buzzkill Chrome extension, where every phrase has a plain-English swap and a Corporate Rank from Intern to Executive. Paste some text and the translator highlights each buzzword it knows, word forms included, so "circling back" still counts as circle back. Click a highlight to swap it, or translate the lot at once. The other two directions run the same list backwards. Browse every phrase in the library or by category.

What is corporate speak?

Corporate speak is the language of work that sounds busy without saying much. Low-hanging fruit means the easy wins. Move the needle means make a real difference. Take this offline means discuss this separately, eventually, maybe. Most of it started as useful shorthand and wore smooth from overuse. The tell is a phrase you could delete without losing any information. The Buzzword Index scores how deep any text is in it.

Translating LinkedIn speak

LinkedIn has its own dialect: the humble brag, the one-sentence paragraphs, a thrilled to announce in every other post, and the "Agree?" at the bottom. Paste a post into Jargon to plain English to read what it actually says. Going the other way is the joke. Plain English to LinkedIn turns a normal update into a post that is ready for the feed and should never go near it. More in the same spirit: the Jargon Generator and Office Bingo.

Corporate speak translator, answered

Is the Corporate Speak Translator free? Yes, with no sign-up and no limit. It runs on the same phrase library as the Buzzkill Chrome extension, which is free to start: spotting jargon is free forever, and the pro tools are a 7-day free trial, then $7 once.
Does my text get sent anywhere? No. The translation runs entirely in your browser, using the phrase list that loads with the page. There is no server behind the tool, so nothing you paste is uploaded or saved, and the text in the tool is masked from the site's visitor analytics.
Can it translate LinkedIn posts? Yes, both ways. Jargon to plain English reads a post without the costume. Plain English to LinkedIn turns a normal update into a parody post, complete with an opener, one sentence per line, and hashtags.
Why did it miss a buzzword? It knows the 638 phrases in the Buzzkill library, plus their common word forms. Anything outside that list goes through untouched, and a few swaps read stiffly in context, so give the result a once-over before you send it anywhere.
How is this different from the Buzzkill extension? The translator works on text you paste here. The extension works where the jargon lives: it highlights buzzwords as you read Gmail and LinkedIn, shows the plain English on hover, and warns you before you send jargon of your own. Spotting is free forever; the one-click swap and the send-guard are a 7-day free trial, then $7 once.
